Austin City Limits
More than a Music Festival
There’s a reason why people often call Austin the “Live Music Capital” of the US. At Austin City Limits, From Mumford & Sons to LL Cool J, there’s talent across the wide musical spectrum . Incredible crowds, an absolutely stacked talent lineup, and the gorgeous beauty of the Zilker area make this event one of Austin’s gems.
The Festival, held over the course of two, three-day weekends, boasts eight stages that feature genres of all kinds–including rock, country, folk, indie, hip hop, and electronic. Tens of thousands of people attend this event, and not just for the music. The food is considered ridiculously good here–with options that will please vegans and BBQ aficionados alike. On top of that, the native Texas spirit is a free and friendly one. The whole “Keep Austin Weird” motto points to awesome things like this very event. Everyone joins in for the music, everyone eats, and everyone has a good time.
W Hotels have a certain something about them–and it usually has to do with modern design, edgy lighting, and really good drinks. The W Austin is no exception and even boasts a stunning pool–which comes in handy during blazing Texas heat waves. We like their Wet Bar, which serves-up local and organic drinks, food, and frozen treats. This is a place where you can keep the party going even after the Festival is over.
Hyatt Place Austin Downtown
Hyatt Place Austin Downtown is a simple and reliable option when in town for the featival. Sure, it’s not fancy or particularly edgy–but when you’re out in the sun all day, the music is blaring, and the party doesn’t stop… do you really want to be at the hotel much longer than the hours you sleep at night? If you agree, then this is the spot for you. Why pay for a luxury hotel if you’re not going to use the luxury? Stay and eat at the Festival all day, and then crash at this comfy and clean hotel.
Kimpton Hotel Van Zandt
One of the leaders of the hospitality pack, Kimpton hotels are almost always a solid bet, and their Austin chapter on Rainey District is no exception. Considered one of the top hotels in the state, this modern hotel is a sight for sore eyes, with design-heavy interiors and ridiculous views. We love their killer pool deck and the fresh southern fare at Geraldine’s.
- JW Marriott Austin
JW Marriott hotels are the exclusive line of luxury hotels from the folks at Marriott. Consider the JW Marriott Austin as your introduction to this swanky name, and enjoy the luxurious hospitality. Our favorite thing about this spot is the gorgeous pool that has beautiful city views on full display. Beyond that, they have a Starbucks inside and elegant dining options. Our pick: grab a seat outside at their Corner Restaurant and enjoy a Corner Marg while you unwind from the day in the sun.
